Safer Neighbourhoods and Policing Initiative – SNAP Reminder:

Owners of security camera systems within City of Brandon limits can access the Safer Neighbourhoods and Policing Initiative registration system at https://snap.brandon.ca.  (This includes both business camera systems and personal home systems)  Once here, they can put in their contact information, location, and number of security cameras, which police will in turn see populated on a map of the City of Brandon with the location of any cameras.

Robbery

On May 12, 2022 at approximately 9:10 am, police responded to a report of a robbery at a business in the 800 block of 18th street N.

Investigation revealed that two suspects entered the business and demanded to know where the merchandise was stored.  The suspects then threatened the employee to turn over approximately $40,000 worth of cellular devices.

The suspects drove away in a newer Mazda CX5 or CX8.  The Manitoba licence plate on the vehicle, did not match the vehicle description provided.

The two suspects were wearing disposable gloves, with their faces covered.  They are both described as black males.  One of the males is approximately 5”8”.  The second male is said to have been wearing a white hoodie, dark pants, and white sneakers.

The employee was not injured.  It is unknown if the suspects were carrying any weapons.

The matter is still under investigation and is being led by the BPS Major Crimes Section.

 

Sexual Assault

On May 4th, 2022 a female victim attended to the Brandon Police Service to report that she was sexually assaulted by a 36 year old male. 

On May 12th, 2022 Police located the suspect male whereby he was arrested and released for the charge of Sexual Assault.  The accused is to appear in court July 11th, 2022.

 

Theft Under $5000

On May 11th, 2022 police received a report that a male had stolen a backpack from a business in 900 block of 18th Street N.

On May 12th, 2022 police located the 28 year old male suspect, whereby he was arrested and released for the charge of Theft Under $5000.  The accused is to appear in court July 4th, 2022.

 

Theft Under $5000

On May 12th, 2022 a male was reported to be actively stealing from a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue.  The 24 year old male was arrested and released for the charge of Theft Under $5000.  The accused is to appear in court July 7th, 2022.

 

Theft Under $5000

On May 12th, 2022 a female was located and arrested for thefts which had been reported by numerous Brandon businesses.  The 31 year old female has been held in custody to appear May 13th, 2022 for 6 charges of Theft Under $5000.

 

Warrant

On May 12th, 2022 a male was reported to be acting suspiciously near a construction site in the 0 hundred block of 18th Street.  A male matching the description provided was located by police and a check of police records revealed an outstanding warrant for Failing to Attend Court.  The 40 year old male was arrested and released for a court date of June 13th, 2022.

 

Warrant

On May 12th, 2022 a pedestrian check was conducted with a female in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue.  A check of Police records showed the individual to have outstanding warrants held by the Brandon Police Service and Winnipeg Police Service.  The 31 year old female has been arrested and held in custody to appear in court May 13th, 2022.

 

Warrant

On May 12th, 2022 police responded to a report of a disturbance at an establishment in the 3100 block of Victoria Avenue.  A check of police records showed one of the subjects involved to have an outstanding warrant held by the Winnipeg Police Service.  The 26 year old male was arrested and released for a Winnipeg court date of August 22nd, 2022.
