Mischief to Property

On December 9, 2021, police observed someone underneath a parked vehicle in the 200 block of college Ave shortly after 2:00 am.  Police arrested the 38-year-old female who was attempting to cut the catalytic converter off the vehicle with a reciprocating saw.  She was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will be released to appear in court on February 14, 2022 on charges of Theft Under $5000 and Mischief to Property.

In 2020, Brandon Police Service received only one complaint of theft of a catalytic converter.

So far, in 2021, Brandon Police Service has responded to six separate reports of this nature throughout the year.  In one of these reports there were five converters stolen from one location.

 

Assault by Choking

On December 9, 2021, police responded to a report of an assault at a residence shortly before 3:00 am.  Investigation revealed that the 27-year-old male suspect used a cord in an attempt to choke the victim.  The victim did not require medical attention.  The suspect was also to abide by conditions of which he was in breach.  He was also the subject of several outstanding charges. 

He was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service.  He will appear in court today on charges of Assault by Choking, Fail to comply with Recognizance, Fail to Comply with Probation, Assault, Assault Cause Bodily Harm, and Fail to Attend Court.

 

IPDA

On December 8, 2021, police observed a male consuming alcohol in the 1100 block of 19th street shortly after 11:00 pm.  The 51-year-old male was intoxicated and in no condition to care for himself.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

 

Prohibited Driving

On December 8, 2021, police conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of 1st street at approximately 3:00 pm.  The 26-year-old male driver was found to be prohibited from driving.  He was arrested and later released to appear in court on February 7, 2022 on a charge of Operation of a Conveyance while Prohibited.
