In follow up to yesterday’s release regarding the break and enter in the 300 block of 6th St, a 46-year-old Brandon male has been charged.  The accused stabbed another Brandon male, known to him, when the victim had entered his apartment uninvited.  The male sustained a single non-life threatening stab wound to his leg.  The accused was released with a court date of June 15th, charged with assault with a weapon.  The facts around whether the stabbing victim will be charged with break and enter are still under investigation.

Assault / Theft of Vehicle / Forcible Confinement / Uttering Threats

At approx. 4:10 PM Wednesday afternoon, police were called to a disturbance in the 100 block of Princess Ave East. The caller indicated that male had approached a female, struck her several times in the face and then forced her into a car and drove away with her inside.  A second call received regarding the same incident provided the identity of both the suspect and the female victim, who know each other. Additional information gathered caused police to believe the life of the female may be in jeopardy.  Brandon Police Service members located the vehicle within a half hour of the call, on the side of Hwy #1 a few miles east of Douglas MB, with both parties still inside. The 28-year-old male was arrested the scene, for assault cause bodily harm, forcible confinement, theft of a motor vehicle and uttering threats against others present at the time of the assault.  He will appear in court later this morning.   The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Arrest Warrant Executed

At approx. 8:40 PM Wednesday evening police were called to a residence in the 700 block of College Ave for an unwanted male refusing to leave.  Officers attended and located the male, who was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant from Winnipeg for the charges of assault with a weapon, break and enter with intent, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.  The 23-year-old male of no fixed address was held overnight and will appear in court in the morning.

Impaired Driving / Drive Over .08

At approx. 2:15 AM today a passerby reported coming upon a motor vehicle collision on 1st St North.  Officers attended to the area to find a 2019 Toyota Corolla caught up on top of the guardrail of the bridge over the Assiniboine River, in the southbound on 1st St.  It appeared the 26-year-old female driver from Toronto Ontario, had lost control of the vehicle as she drove southbound.  She hit approximately 12 guardrail posts before coming to rest on top of the rail.  Officers attending noted the driver to be displaying signs of impairment; therefore she was arrested on scene. The driver provided two samples of her breath, which resulted in readings in excess of one and a half times the legal limit.  She has been charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level over .08.  The accused was held in custody and will appear in court later this morning.
