Theft Under $5000

On February 28, a 29 year old Brandon female was recorded on in-store video, stealing assorted clothing items from one of the stores in the Corral Centre.  The investigator was able to identify the suspect from the video.  On Saturday officers located and arrested the suspect.  She has been released from custody and will appear in court on April 25.

Arson / Theft

At approx. 3:20 PM Saturday, police were called to an address in the 200 block of 4th St for an unwanted male knocking on doors in the area.  Officers attended and located a 31 year old Brandon male who is known to police.  The responding officers were aware that this male was a suspect in a theft from a local beer vendor on Feb 26.  He was also wanted for attempting to set a fire, outside one of the downtown businesses.  He has been released from custody and will appear in court on April 28.

Arrest Warrant Executed / Possession of a Weapon

At approx. 4:35 Saturday afternoon, police were called the area of the 400 block of Princess for a male that was reportedly “making a sword”.  Officers attended and located a 33 year old Brandon male who was in the process of using a grinder to shape and sharpen a long piece of steel into a machete.  The male is currently bound by a court order with a condition that he not possess any weapons, and is also the subject of an arrest warrant. He was arrested on the strength of the warrant and has also been charged with possessing a weapon dangerous and failing to comply with his Release Order. He will appear in court later today.

Mischief to Property

 At approx. 9:30 Saturday evening, officers were called to a business in the 600 block of 6th St.  A male had walked into the store, told staff to call police, and then began taking items off the shelf and smashing them on the floor.  Officers attended and arrested the 38 year old male for mischief to property.  He will be held in custody until he is sober, at which time he will be released with a court date of May 16.

Domestic Assault

At approx. 12:45 AM today, Police received a call of a domestic assault.  The victim indicated that her ex-husband had assaulted her and she feared for the safety of their children.  Members attended to an address in the 500 block of Princess and arrested the 24 year old Brandon male.  He has been charged with common assault and will appear in court on April 28.

Arrest Warrant Executed

At approx. 3:00 AM today, officers were called to an address in the 1200 block of 9th St for a disturbance.  Dispatch indicated that fighting could be heard in the background at the time of the call.  Upon arrival a male had fled on foot from the area.  The 18 year old Sioux Valley male was known to be the subject of 2 RCMP warrants of arrest and 1 warrant held by the Brandon Police Service.  He is also currently bound by a court order not to communicate with the resident of the apartment officers were called to.  Police set up a perimeter around the area and a track using the police service dog was initiated.  At 3:27 AM, the suspect was located and arrested after a short foot pursuit.  He was held in custody and will appear in court later today, charged with 2 counts of failing to comply with his release order as well as the original charges from the 3 warrants.  Those charges include break and enter and 2 counts of failing to attend court.
