Arrest Warrant Executed 

At 9:09am, police arrested a 31 year old man at his residence on the strength of a warrant for failing to attend court.  He was held in custody for court later in the day.

 

Theft Under $5000 (shoplifting)

On April 27th, 2022, police received a complaint of two female suspects shoplifting from a business in the 3400’ block of Victoria Ave.  The females had stolen numerous items and fled prior to police arrival.  Subsequent investigation identified the two suspects involved.  On June 5th, a 37 year old female was arrested and charged for theft.  She was given a court date of July 28 to deal with the charge.  Attempts to locate the second suspect, a 24 year old female, have been unsuccessful and a warrant for her arrest has been requested. 

 

Possess Weapon Dangerous

At 3:48pm, while police were patrolling they came across a disturbance in the 300’ block of 13th Street.  Two males were involved in an argument at which time one of the individuals armed himself with an axe which he was holding over his head.  Police were able to deescalate the situation and no injuries were sustained to anyone involved.  A 51 year old man was arrested and charged for possession of a weapon.  He was given a court date of July 28, 2022.

 

Arrest Warrant Executed

At 3:59pm, police responded to a disturbance in the 200’ block of Rideau Street.  Upon arrival, police located a 26 year old man who was wanted for assault and failing to attend court.  He was arrested and later released for court on August 4, 2022.

 

Fraud Under $5000

At 5:59pm, police were called to Alaska Bay as a 38 year old female had taken a taxi and refused to pay the fare.  She was arrested and charged for fraud.  She was given a court date of August 8, 2022.

 

Domestic Assault

At 6:14pm, police responded to a domestic assault at a residence in the 1500’ block of Stickney Ave.  A 15 year old male had assaulted his girlfriend by punching her several times.  He was arrested and charged for assault.  He was turned over to the care of his mother and given a court date of August 9, 2022.

 

Breach of Peace (Man with a Knife)

At 8:00pm, police received a call from the downtown security patrol of a male armed with a knife in the 000’ block of 8th Street.  The male indicated he was looking for someone to stab or he would stab himself.  The male was quickly located and contained by police who began attempts to deescalate the situation.  The male refused repeated commands to drop the knife throughout the prolonged interaction, and repeated his desire to stab himself.  Police eventually deployed a conducted energy weapon (CEW) which caused incapacitation, and he was restrained without further incident and no injury.  The 34 year old man was under the influence of meth and transported to BRHC to be medically cleared.  He was then lodged for an assessment in the morning.

 

Breach of Peace

At 9:35pm, police responded to an intoxicated female in the area of 26th Street and Rosser Ave. who was hitting her head and running into traffic.  BFES transported the 24 year old female to BRHC as she was displaying bizarre behavior; however, at 10:42pm, police were called to remove her from the hospital as she was uncooperative and disruptive.  She was lodged at BPS until sober.

 

Break & Enter, Theft of ATM, Theft of Motor Vehicle

At 4:14am, police responded to an alarm at a business in the 2000’ block of Lyndale Drive.  Upon arrival police observed a truck backed inside the store with the front door/glass completely out.  The truck exited and was dragging the ATM behind it which broke free as the vehicle turned south.  The suspect vehicle continued south out of town and attempted to make a right turn at Ferguson Road where it went into the south ditch and became stuck in a creek bank.  A 27 year old male suspect was arrested at the vehicle while a second suspect fled on foot.  The second suspect, a 34 year old male, was arrested just before 8:00am in the area.  It was determined the suspects had stolen the vehicle involved from a business in the 4800’ block of Victoria Ave East sometime overnight.  It is believed these two individuals are responsible for numerous crimes throughout southwestern Manitoba and the Brandon Police Service Major Crime Unit will be working with other law enforcement agencies as the investigation continues.
