Utter Forged Document

On February 16 2022, a 28 year old male attempted to cash a cheque that had been altered to make it payable to himself.  The cheque was not cashed at the time and the male fled.  On Friday March 4 the male was located and arrested.  He has been charged with attempt fraud and utter forged document.  He will appear in court on April 28.

 

Arrest Warrant Executed

At approx. 2:15 PM on Friday, officers were called to a disturbance in the 300 block of 13th St. A 43 year old male was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant o arrest for failing to comply with his release order.  He is also currently the subject of a court condition that he not communicate with another male involved in the disturbance.  He was arrested on the strength of the warrant as well as a new charge for failing to comply with his release order.  He was held in custody and will appear in court later today.

 

Search Warrant Executed

On February 23 2022, a 39 year old Brandon male assaulted a local female by striking her in the head with a can of bear spray.  At the time of the incident the accused male was the subject of a release order which contained a condition that he not possess weapons, and that he observe a curfew and answer the door when police conduct curfew checks.  Officers have made checks at his residence and the accused failed to answer the door as required.  As a result, police obtained a warrant to enter the residence, in the 1000 block of 9th St and arrest the male.  At approx. 5:50 PM Friday, officer attended to the residence to execute the warrant.  The male was located within the apartment and was arrested for assault with a weapon and 2 counts of failing to comply with his release order.  He was held in custody and will appear in court later today.

 

Assault with a Weapon

At approx. 12:25 AM today, officers were called to a business in the 3100 block of Victoria Ave for a bear spray incident.  The investigation revealed that three males had been removed from the business earlier in the night, they then returned a short time later and one of the males sprayed a number of other patrons with bear spray, just outside the building.  The suspects were located a short distance away and were arrested.  Further investigation revealed a 23 year old male of Grand Rapids was the one who had sprayed the other patrons.  He was arrested and has been charged with 2 counts of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and administer noxious substance.  He was held in custody and will appear in court later today.  The other two males involved were charged under the Liquor Gaming and Cannabis Control Act, for being disorderly in or around a licensed premise.

  

Fail to Comply with Release Order

At approx. 3:30 AM today, police were called to the area for the 000 block of Lorne Ave East as a cab driver stated he was assaulted by a male in his cab.  Officers attended and determined the dispute was over an unpaid fare.  A 40 year old male in the cab was highly intoxicated and had refused to pay when he punched the cab driver.  Officers assisted in getting the driver the money he was owed. The driver did not wish to pursue assault charges but further checks of the suspect revealed he is currently bound by a court order with a condition not to consume alcohol.  As a result, he was arrested for failing to comply with the Order and will appear in court on April 28.

 

Other Arrests:

  • 1 male and 1 female were arrested in separate incident for breach of the peace and will be held until calm and sober.
  • 1 female was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.  She will be held until sober.
