Impaired Driver

On April 5, 2022 at approximately 4:00 am, police conducted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of 18th street.  The driver displayed signs of impairment, and was found to be a prohibited driver Canada wide.  The 45-year-old male was arrested, but refused to provide a sample of his breath. 

Investigation revealed that the male was also in possession of 140 hydromorphone pills, drug trafficking paraphernalia and a set of brass knuckles

He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Impaired Driving, Refuse to Provide Sample with Demand, Prohibited Driving, Possession For the Purpose of Trafficking, and Possession of Prohibited Weapon.

 

Assault with a Weapon

On April 4, 2022, police responded to a report of a fight in the 800 block of Rosser Ave shortly after 1:00 pm.  Investigation revealed that a 49-year-old male assaulted a victim and threatened them with a pair of scissors and a knife.  The suspect backed off and left the area after other individuals verbally intervened.

At approximately 3:30pm, police responded to reports of the same suspect assaulting a second victim in the same area.  He took the victim’s bag, and struck them with it before throwing it across the street.  The male was located and arrested nearby a short time later.

The male was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear today in court on charges of Assault with a Weapon X2.  Neither victim required medical treatment following the assaults.

 

Break and Enter - Suspect Arrested

On April 2, 2022, police received a report of a theft from a business in the 700 block of 19th street.  Investigation revealed that a male suspect tampered with a coin operated vending machine and stole money from it.  Security footage from the business also revealed that the male broke into a compound at the business shortly after 7:00 am.  Police were able to identify the suspect from the images.

On April 4, 2022, police located and arrested the 44-year-old male.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Break and Enter, Theft Under $5000, Mischief to Property and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

 

Assault

On April 4, 2022, police responded to a report of a disturbance in a residence.  An intoxicated 48-year-old female was causing damage to property and broke a TV.  Investigation revealed that she also assaulted a victim, who received minor injuries.  She was arrested and released to a sober friend.  She will appear in court on June 2, 2022 on charges of Assault and Mischief to Property.

 

Fail to Comply with Release Order

On April 4, 2022, shortly before noon, police responded to a report of a 34-year-old male at a business in the 900 block of Victoria Ave.  Employees recognized the male and were aware that he was to abide by conditions not to attend the business.  He was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service to appear in court today on a charge of Fail to Comply with Release Order.

 

Fail to Comply with Undertaking

On April 4, 2022, police responded to a report of a 17-year-old female who was communicating with an individual with whom she was to have no contact.  The female was arrested and later released to an adult relative.  She will appear in court on May 10, 2022 on a charge of Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

 

Arrest Warrants

On April 5, 2022, police located and arrested a 25-year-old male who was wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to Comply with Probation and Fail to Attend Court.  He was later released to appear in court on May 30, 2022.

On April 5, 2022, shortly before 4:00 am, police conducted a vehicle stop in the 1300 block of Queens Ave.  The driver, a 28-year-old male was found to be the subject of outstanding charges, and was arrested. Upon his arrest, police found he was in possession of a concealed weapon, contrary to a release condition, and he was to abide by a curfew.  He was later released to appear in court on June 9, 2022 on charges of Driving While Ability Impaired and Fail to Attend Court (warrant) and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.
