Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

At approx. 1:30 PM Saturday police received a report of theft from a motor vehicle which had been parked in the 700 block of Franklin St.  The investigation led to a residence in the 100 block of 12th St East.  The investigating officers were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence and during the search they recovered the property stolen from the vehicle. Police have charged a 41 year old male with possession of property obtained by crime.  They also arrested a 28 year old female from the same address as she was the subject of an Warrant of Arrest for theft, fraud and using a stolen debit card.  Both the male and female have since been released with a court date of July 31. 

Arrest Warrant Executed

On Saturday afternoon officers were standing by to ensure no problems arouse as a landlord was evicting unwanted people from their property. One of the people located at the residence in the 900 block of Stickney was found to be the subject of a warrant of arrest for assault and failing to attend court.  The 16 year old female was arrested and will be appear in court later today.

Fail to Comply with Release Order

At approx. 2:30 Saturday afternoon, police were called the area of the 300 block of 13th St for a highly intoxicated male running into traffic.  Upon arrival they located the 26 year old male who highly agitated and was clearly under the influence of a drug.  Further investigation revealed he is currently subject to a release order with a condition that he abstain from the use of drugs.  As a result, he was arrested and held for court and has since been remanded into custody until court on Monday June 5.

Arrest Warrant Executed / possession of Cocaine and Meth

At approx. 9 PM Saturday, police conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of 18th St N. The driver of the vehicle was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant of arrest for 3 counts of theft, and 2 counts of failing to comply with his Probation order.  He was arrested on the strength of the warrant and during a search incident to arrest, he was found to be in possession of a small quantity of individually wrapped baggies of cocaine, as well as a small quantity of meth.  He was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of meth, and possession of proceeds of crime (cash).  He was held for court on both the warrant charges as well as the new charges and has since been remanded into custody to appear again on June 5.  

A 31 year old female passenger of the vehicle was also arrested as she was the subject of a Release Order with a daily curfew of 7 PM – 7 AM.  She has since been released with a court date of July 24.

Pawsitively UnBearlievable

At approx. 10:10 PM Saturday, police received a call from a resident near the West Ridge Community Centre, 32 Willowdale Cres, indicating there was a large black bear in the area. The bear was eventually located at the rear of a residence on Elviss Cres, where it climbed a tree.  Officers remained in the area to monitor the bear until Conservation staff could attend.  The bear was safely contained and has been removed from the City.
