Domestic Assault

Police took a 42-year-old female from Brandon into custody at 7:50 p.m. Saturday, after she assaulted her former boyfriend on Friday, October 1st.  The former boyfriend had been arrested Friday for assaulting her based on her initial complaint. At that time he displayed physical signs of having also been assaulted. Both subjects are currently on conditions to have no contact with each other. She was held in cells overnight and will appear before a Justice today, charged with assault and breach of undertaking.

Other Arrests

  • At 4:25 p.m. Saturday, police took a 35 year old Brandon female into custody after she was reported acting strangely in the downtown area. She was found to be under the influence of meth and was lodged in BPS cells for release once sober.
  • A 46-year-old male from the rural Manitoba was taken into custody at 11 p.m. Saturday after calling someone and expressing suicidal ideation. That person then contacted police out of concern for the male’s wellbeing. The male was intoxicated and will remain in cells overnight. Once sober, police will arrange for a mental health professional to consult with the male to determine his suitability for release or the need for further immediate mental health supports.
  • At 1:10 a.m. today, an assault occurred downtown in the area of the 800 block of Pacific Avenue. On police arrival no one on scene wished to make a complaint, but one of the parties was a 31 year old female of no fixed address, who was wanted on a warrant for breach of probation. The female was high on meth and held in cells overnight. She will appear before a Justice today to answer to the outstanding warrant.
  • At 1:40 a.m. today, a complaint was received from a business in the 3100 block of Victoria Avenue regarding an intoxicated 19-year-old male from Brandon causing a disturbance on scene. He was held in BPS cells overnight and will be released later once sober. The male will be issued a summons for causing a disturbance in a licensed premise.
