Shoplifter Assaults LPO

At 5:45 p.m. Friday, Loss Prevention staff at a retailer on 18th St North attempted to apprehend a shoplifter for taking property from the store, when the accused punched the LPO in the face resulting in a broken nose. As a result, a 33 year old female from Brandon was charged with Robbery, and released from custody to appear in court in May.

Domestic Assault

While a 40 year old male from Brandon was in police custody on unrelated matters on Friday afternoon, his girlfriend attended to BPS to report that he had assaulted her on March 29. During a verbal exchange that day, the suspect slapped her once across the face with an open hand. He is currently on orders to have no contact or communication with the victim as a result of a previous domestic assault against her. The male was remanded into custody after appearing before a Justice, and will make his next court appearance on Monday. He is charged with assault, and failure to comply with a release order.

Other Arrests

  • At 7:40 p.m. Friday, a 21 year old female was removed from the family home in the 1200 block of 9th Street as she was fighting with the other occupants inside the home and was intoxicated. She was lodged in cells overnight without charge and will be released later today when sober.
  • At 2:55 a.m. today, police removed an intoxicated 26 year old male from a residence in the 1100 block of 20th Street. The male was causing a disturbance, and due to the presence of other family in the home including several young children, he was lodged in cells. The male will be released later today without charge once sober.
