Southeast Brandon Community Plan (Last update: July 16, 2021) The City of Brandon is currently working on a plan for the southeast growth area to provide direction on development. This is a proactive attempt to ensure any development that occurs in the area addresses a variety of issues, such as infrastructure, the environment, and proximity to existing industrial areas. July 16, 2021 Update City Council adopted the Southeast Brandon Secondary Plan on July 12, 2021, incorporating amendments brought forward during the public hearing before the Planning Commission on June 16, 2021. The final version of the Secondary Plan is now available on our By-laws, Plans & Studies web page. Approval of this Secondary Plan does not mean development can occur right away. Except for existing industrial and commercial areas near Richmond Avenue East, lands in the Secondary Plan area must next be rezoned and subdivided before development can occur. These applications require similar approvals as with the Secondary Plan, and are also subject to public hearings. These applications must also demonstrate compliance with the Secondary Plan to gain approval. We again thank those who provided us feedback throughout this project. April 26, 2021 Update The City began the formal adoption process this month, with Council giving the Southeast Brandon Secondary Plan by-law first reading on April 19, 2021. Visit the application web page for further updates. The application is currently under circulation with commenting agencies. We anticipate holding a public hearing for this secondary plan in June 2021. We have also finalized our community engagement report, and you may find a copy of this report now on our application web page.
