Lucky Ned

From left to right, Bill Turner (who, unfortunately due to Covid 19 risks was unable to be with us in the studio), Brent White, Kerry Skinner, and Brian Giesbrecht. Lucky Ned has played music together for a number of years and perform mostly covers of other artists but don’t try to mimic the original artists. Each member has a different taste in music making their selection eclectic...from Bluegrass, to Sinatra, to Blues, to Folk, Dire Straits, you name it. Brian is the lead vocalist, but from time to time, each of the others takes over lead vocals.

Hearts Desire - August 17

Hearts Desire

In 2015, the two remaining members of southwestern Manitoba`s Heart`s Desire band teamed up with long time friend, Jan Ashton, and mutual friend Amy McAlpine.   Amy comes from a musical family, and has been singing for as long as she can remember. She enjoys writing parodies, and has written a few original songs, Amy spent at least 6 years as newsletter editor for the Jammin Times (Westman Jams), and also plays guitar.  Lorraine Comber, one of the more seasoned members, plays lead guitar and has been in bands since 14 years of age. She, too is known for her upbeat parodies, and strong lead vocals. And harmony.  Lorraine was one of the original Heart`s Desire members back in 2008.  Debbie Beaudry, began singing at the tender age of 5, and learned to play guitar at 17. Debbie is known for her many original songs. She is also one of the founding band members.  Last, but certainly not least, Jan Ashton brings a cool, smooth crooner style sound to the group. She has been singing since about 10 years old, plays guitar, and also learned to sing harmony, with Women in Harmony, years before, where she and Lorraine originally met. Together, the foursome alternate lead vocals, and harmony, with music from all genres, including country, gospel, as well as classic rock and roll. They have enjoyed playing at several venues, around southwestern Manitoba, including care homes, community dances, Music in the Parks in Brandon, as well as Virden. Together, along with many musical friends, the four have contributed to a few non profit organizations, such as Westman Jams, a local group, to raise funds to send children to music camp at IMC (International Music Camp).  They hope to continue their musical journey for many years to come.
