Bee City Brandon

In May of 2018 the City of Brandon was designated the first Bee City in Manitoba by Bee City Canada.

According to Bee City Canada, a Bee City raises awareness of pollinator diversity and the benefits of using native plants in habitat restoration. Cost benefits abound in using native plants. For example, water usage is reduced and there is a plant cost advantage using perennials over annuals. Lawns cost the most to maintain. It just makes good sense to plant a pollinator garden!

A working group called Bee City Brandon aims to educate the residents of Brandon on the importance native bees play in our life. You can like and follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @beecitybrandon.

Bee City Canada offers designation programs for schools, campuses and businesses and has a variety of resources available to learn all about the bees! Get your organization involved!
