Councillor Glen Parker

Glen and his wife Shannon have lived in Brandon all of their adult lives. They have two grown sons, who, along with their families, also live in Brandon.

Glen currently works as an Advancement Officer with Assiniboine Community College. He retired from The Brandon Sun in early 2020 after 17 years in senior management roles.

Having spent much of his youth, and a good portion of his adult life in Riverview ward, Glen is anxious to continue assisting the ward in any way he can. Elected in a May 2016 by-election and again in the 2018 general election, he said he is humbled by the confidence the ward has shown in him and takes seriously the responsibility that brings.

Glen prefers to help residents with their concerns in a private manner by liaising with the appropriate city staff rather that in a public fashion. He encourages you to reach out to him with any concerns you have. While Glen recognizes the responsibility to Riverview is first and foremost, he believes, as do his council colleagues, that they serve all citizens of the city of Brandon.

Councillor Parker is a current board member of the following community organizations:

  • Hockey Manitoba (Director)
  • Father Son Golf (Founder/Chairman)
  • East End Community Centre (VP)
  • Manitoba AAA U18 Hockey League (VP)
  • Riverview Ward Patrol (Founder/Co-chair)

In addition to serving as Deputy Mayor, Councillor Parker currently serves on the following committees, boards, and community organizations:

  • Building Standards & By-law Compliance Committee
  • Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium Board Member
  • Keystone Centre Board Member
  • Audit & Finance Committee
  • Brandon Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee
