Do consider composting at home, to help extend the life of our landfill and reduce greenhouse gas emissions: Use bonus Kitchen Collector (delivered inside new carts) as a handy storage container for kitchen waste. Grass clippings are actually best left on your lawn to reduce the need for watering/fertilizing or can go in your backyard compost bin as a source of nitrogen (or "greens" in compost lingo). Dry leaves can be stored in any handy container/bag and gradually layered into your compost bin as an excellent source of carbon (or "browns" in compost lingo). Call toll free 1-866-394-8880 for helpful tips. If you prefer not to home compost, DO take kitchen waste (use bonus Kitchen Collector) and yard waste (leaves, grass clippings, etc.) to community drop-off depots for transfer to Brandon’s large-scale composting site – see list and map on main menu for depot nearest you. And last, but also least, if you choose to treat organic waste – kitchen and yard – as household refuse, please ensure that it is tightly bagged before placing in the black-lid cart (NEVER in recycling) …and ensure that cart lid is completely closed.
