What's Happening in Your Neighbourhood?
Brandon & Area Planning District
Since the former 8th Street Bridge structure was demolished in the summer of 2017, an active transportation/pedestrian corridor has been pursued as a replacement to connect the City of Brandon across the Canadian Pacific rail corridor. Based on feedback provided to City administration through numerous public consultation sessions and our online survey, a preferred option has been selected by City Council and direction has been given to Engineering to proceed with preliminary design.

What's Next in the Process?
The project will proceed to preliminary design this fall and winter. Preliminary design provides the City a "tool" to approach potential funding partners to make the bridge a reality. Any final commitment to complete detailed design and build the bridge will only be done when Council is satisfied they have the funding arrangements to do so.
Fall 2018 - Preliminary design
2019/2020 - Budget for detailed design & construction (depending on funding)
