City Coat of Arms
Arms:
The horse has been taken from the previous municipal emblem. The oak leaves are in honour of the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon who has an oak tree in one of his crests. Each oak leaf has a small chevron cap to represent the roofs of houses and the municipal identity of Brandon.
Crest:
The crest is based on the other one of the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon, a salamander in its customary flames. Here, it is coloured green and lies on a rock. This combination alludes to the location of the city near the Assiniboine river, the name of which refers to the use of hot rocks for cooking.
Motto:
This Latin phrase means "She acquires strength in her progress."
Supporters:
The deer are local fauna referring to the antelopes that are supporters of the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon. The coronets allude to the dignity of a Duke and the oak leaf and chevron are taken from the arms design.
Original Concept: Darrel Kennedy, Assiniboine Herald, assisted by the heralds of the Canadian Heraldic Authority.

The new Brandon Coat of Arms was officially presented by the Chief of Police, Keith Atkinson, and the City Clerk, Con Arvisais, at the April 6th, 2009 City Council meeting.
The Coat of Arms was created by the Chief Herald of the Canadian Heraldic Authority for the City of Brandon upon the City’s request.
- Who is allowed to use this image?
This logo will be trademarked by the City of Brandon and will only be for use by the City of Brandon as its new corporate image. The official colors of the City of Brandon are gold and green. These colors are predominantly present in the new Coat of Arms and will remain the official colors of the City of Brandon.
- Will all City Departments be using the same logo?
With a few exceptions, all City of Brandon Departments will begin to use only the new Coat of Arms. Fire and Emergency Services, Police Service and Economic Development will continue to use logos and identification pertinent to their operations.
