Enhanced 911

The Provincial Enhanced 911 (E911) system began operating out of the City of Brandon Fire Department on September 16, 1996. The City of Brandon and Manitoba Telecom Services implemented enhanced 911 service for a trial period ending December 31, 1996.

Enhanced 911 services became available January 1, 1997. Service was initially offered to the City of Brandon, rural municipalities of Elton, Cornwallis, Whitehead and Canadian Forces Base Shilo.

911 is an evolving technology, for more information on 911 service or the impact of VoIP, Text with 911 (T911 - or other new technology, please refer to the CRTC.
